Hard Drive 13 on Koldcast

Hard Drive 13 in the Georgia Straight!

Date: 02-11-2011 15:06     Logged by: steve01

Hard Drive 13 has got a write-up in a tiny blurb in the Georgia Straight here. Denyc appears in all her glory at the top of the article, which also mentions several other web series also shot in Vancouver.

The Straight called me about a month ago, and after sending them large files and answering a bunch of questions, they finally posted the article!

Hopefully, this is just the beginning of wild fame and glory. Certainly our hard-working cast and crew deserve it.

BTW, I don’t agree with what the Straight said about the acting. I think they just had to have something to put in the “Meh” column.

Stay tuned, Stay Tuners, lots more just about to happen.

Creator’s Blog: Episode Two – Almost Here

Date: 10-28-2010 02:38     Logged by: steve01

I almost wrote another “Curse of 13″ post, but it’s starting to sound like I have some kind of persecution complex. It’s almost like the gremlins have become old friends; if things are going smoothly, something’s about to go horribly wrong, and when it does, it’s almost a relief; “looks like we’ve had our glitch for this mission…”.

The episode is almost ready, but not quite. I still have to finish the mix and the final color correction. So it’ll be done in the morning, Pacific Daylight Time.

Episode two is lots of fun, and look for cb shaw’s awesome stunt work in this one!

Stay tuned, stay tuners.

Curse of 13/Creator’s Blog- My Health

Things in the last while have been crazy and difficult for me. There’s been equipment failures, crashes, and other troubles (see the Curse of 13 posts). But probably the worst obstacle is that I somehow contracted whooping cough, accompanied by pneumonia. As a result, right when I need to be very focussed and energetic to drive the premiere of Hard Drive 13, I’ve had barely enough energy to complete the editing. Coupled with our server going down, and having to shoot some pickup shots, as well as commitments in my personal life, I’ve had no reserves left to complete (or even delegate) all the very cool plans we had for the rollout. It’s been all I could do just to finish the episodes while coughing violently and almost passing out.

Hard Drive 13 goes live!!!

Date: 10-14-2010 17:05     Logged by: steve01

What a journey it’s been! But here we are, Episode 1 is up (and lots more to follow). I’m taking a little break (a half day) and then it’s back to work. But keep coming back to the site between episodes. There’s a lot of other stuff we’ll be posting. It’s not just the videos.

Meanwhile, share, like, comment, and get the word out.

Episode One is complete

Date: 10-14-2010 03:53     Logged by: steve01

I’m Very Excited. I didn’t quite make the midnight PDT, October 13 deadline with Episode One, although by that time, the show WAS completely edited, and only needed a few fixes to the tail credits. So I sorta made the deadline. And I did finish a few minutes after midnight.

Of course, now we have to go through the upload and encode process, so it’ll be morning by the time you can see it. But it’s done.

And worth the wait, I think you’ll agree. Stay tuned, stay tuners, it’s a matter of hours now…

Curse of 13- WTF?!?!?

Date: 10-13-2010 12:42     Logged by: steve01

What was that?!?

I mean really, opening day, the Big Premiere, and the website goes down. I spent all day on the phone and online with our host provider, trying to get things up and running. And they were cagey. And bureaucratic.

I believe in the curse now. True believer here. The things that have gone wrong with this show are off the scale compared to other projects. Way off the scale. In fact, I’m starting to think there’s something else going on here.

I mean, here we are creating a series about secrets and lies, about conspiracies within conspiracies, and suddenly, mysteriously, our website gets suspended. You’d think somebody doesn’t want you to see Hard Drive 13…

But it’ll happen today. Just not bright and early this morning. It’s going to be rather late this afternoon.

Hell or High Water, I said. It’s been both.

Creator’s Blog – Production Day 1

First day of production, and it’s always like this. I’m tired, I’m not prepared, and there’s a lot of stuff that needs attention. I didn’t slept last night. Not only that, but I have an editing gig that went long, and now there’s about four days of work to do while we’re shooting.

I thought to myself, well, last summer I survived five days of shooting with less than three hours’ sleep each night; this is only four. Piece of cake. Well, okay, not exactly a piece of cake, but at least I’ve done this before.

History of the ISD Part 4: UFOs – The Next Wave

Date: 09-08-2010 12:51     Logged by: chmacker

In 1995, a new, greatly increased wave of sightings began, which continue to this day. At that time, private citizens were pressuring the White House to release information about Roswell and other UFO sightings via the FOI act. The ISD was reconstituted by a somewhat distracted President Clinton, and began their security efforts anew. Project Galactic, a manned mission to the alien homeworld was mounted. Vast amounts of money and resources were diverted to the project, similar to the Apollo project in scope, but completely secret. After twelve years of preparation, the flight left on January 31, 2008. A civilian picture was taken of the craft preparing for FTL jump over Indiana, but was carefully dismissed as a hoax. Galactic was probably the main reason we never returned to the moon.

History of the ISD Part 3: The Men in Black

Date: 09-01-2010 12:47     Logged by: chmacker

The Roswell incident was an excellent resource of alien technology and equipment, and was originally reported (truthfully) as the capture of a flying saucer, but quickly hushed up as a balloon accident, complete with planted evidence and photographs. The technology discovered was too valuable for national (and planetary) defense strategies, and Air Force administrators quickly realized this.

During Grudge, the ISD’s main task was to become familiar with alien technology and formulate an operable defense strategy. The ISD began training in a hidden base in the Superstition Mountains east of Mesa, Arizona, and tested their weapons in a box canyon north of the China Lake Naval Weapons Center in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
